What do we believe?
Matthew 28:19-20
Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
- We believe the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments to be the inspired and infallible Word of God, and the sole all-sufficient authority in every matter of Christian faith and practice.
- We believe that there is one true and living God. In the one God there are three persons, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. They are all one in nature, purpose, thought and equal in power; each having a separate role in the activities of creation, providence, redemption and grace. All of whom we reverence, worship and serve as the only one true and living God.
- We believe in the fall of mankind in Adam; that as a result of Adams sins the entire human race is dead in trespasses and sin and hence we are all sinners and eternally lost.
- We believe that salvation is secured only through the Lord Jesus Christ; that He chose that mankind secure salvation in Him before the foundation of the world, and that through Gods sovereign grace he also predestined us in Christ Jesus to be conformed to the image of His son.
- We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ was fully man and fully God; that He was sent by the Father as the Son of God, that he was born of a virgin, that he lived a sinless life and gave His life as an atonement for sin, and that it is by the shed blood of Jesus Christ that we have forgiveness of sins.
- We believe that Jesus Christ rose from the dead on the third day; that by His resurrection vindicated His claim to be the Son of God, and that He ascended into Heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father.
- We believe that all those secured by Christ through salvation will persevere to the end; that none that come to Him shall be cast out, or plucked from the hand of God, and that when we die we will be in the presence of God.
- We believe the true Christian church is a body of people who have been born again by the Holy Spirit, have repented of their sins and trusted in the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation. This body of people is the body of Christ. These local assemblies are autonomous in government, and are independent of each other.
- We believe that Christian baptism is the immersion in water of a believer, and that this divine institution has been appointed by the Lord Jesus Christ, as an ordinance for His people until He returns. The only subjects for baptism are believers, and all believers should follow this command.
- We believe that the Lords Supper is an ordinance of the church and that only baptised believers may partake of the communion table, that this divine institution commemorates the death of the Lord Jesus Christ, and that it is our communion with Him until He returns.
- We believe that the proclamation of the gospel is the continual responsibility of the church of Christ, not just locally but in the entire world. We believe that Jesus loves all mankind and has made salvation freely available to all by the gospel. Those who reject the gospel will be eternally separated from God in a place called the lake of fire.
- We believe in the Blessed Hope; the personal, visible, imminent, pre-tribulation and pre-millennial coming of Jesus Christ, for His redeemed ones, and in His subsequent return to the earth with His saints to establish His millennial Kingdom. We believe that if we remain alive at His coming we will be transformed in a moment of time.
